Since we make smoothies probably every other day, we decided to throw the matcha in the mix. It was a winner, and now we add it in every time. Sometimes we'll add a little more so the taste comes through, and other times we'll add it just for the health benefits, including the metabolism boost, antioxidants, and extra kick of energy.
We especially like Kiss Me Organics, because as the name implies, their matcha is 100% organic and sourced from the purest tea farms, so you know that all you're putting into your body when you use the powder is plain ol' matcha and nothing else.
The smoothie itself is pretty customizable - it is a smoothie, after all - but we find that we usually end up including everything in the base ingredient list every time, while the optional add-ins will come in and out of the rotation. Try it out, and see what you like best!
our go-to smoothie
1 frozen banana
10 small frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen mango
1 cup water or chilled green tea
1/2 tsp vanilla extract or 1/4 of the seeds from a vanilla bean
1 tsp matcha powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 large kale leaf
1 soft medjool date, pitted
1/2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp hemp or chia seeds
1 tbsp flax meal
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and drink away!
