If so, shame on you for not being properly stocked.
Which, don't get us wrong, is totally productive too.
BUT! We've found something that does the trick in a pinch. Chocolate oatmeal, forever and always. We always seem to have cocoa powder around, so mixing it with oats and calling it breakfast is our go-to. This recipe is simple and super customizable, and is the perfect excuse to eat chocolate for dinner.
1/2 cup gluten free rolled oats
1 cup water
1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk, or other milk of choice
1 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 - 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup, or sweetener of choice
1/2 tsp vanilla
Large pinch of salt
Combine oats, water, and milk in a medium sized pot over medium high heat. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and cover. Let simmer about 10-15 minutes, keeping an eye on it so it doesn't bubble over and stirring occasionally. When the oatmeal is thick and a taste test shows that the oats are softened to your liking, stir in cocoa powder, sweetener, vanilla, and salt. Transfer to a bowl, top with berries, hemp seeds, coconut oil, milk, or anything else you like on your oatmeal, and eat immediately!
